The Daniell Cell

Postby Jason Muljadi 2C » Sun Feb 18, 2018 9:11 pm

Is the Daniell cell basically the only example of a galvanic cell that we need to know for this course? Or do we need to know more examples?

I think the Daniell Cell is just one specific type of electrochemical cell that we can use as a basis for doing different problems that involve electrochemical cells/redox reactions. As long as you understand why/how the Daniell Cell works, you can apply these ideas to any similar electrochemical cell.

I think it's more important that you just understand galvanic cells in general, and I don't think you need to remember the specifics of the Daniell Cell or other examples, just know how they work

For galvanic cells, we mainly need to focus on what constitutes as a galvanic cell and the direction of electron flow.

What makes the Daniell cell different from a general galvanic cell?
