14.13 part D

Postby Emily Mei 1B » Mon Feb 19, 2018 3:04 pm

The skeleton equation was Au+(aq) + --> Au(s) + Au3+(aq). Can someone explain why the the anode half reaction is Au3+(aq) + 3e- -> Au(s)?

I was wondering this as well, since Au3+ is supposed to be on the products side. It may have been a solution manual error.

Same, I thought it would have been Au+(aq) --> Au3+(aq) + 2e- , with Pt(s) as the conducting solid....
