how to write a cell diagram
what is the order in which we are supposed to write the cell diagram? Our TA told us to write reactants first then products but that doesnt seem to match the solution manual

Re: how to write a cell diagram
So the order is typically Inert Metal (if applicable) | (Anode reactant) | (anode product) || (Cathode reactant) | (cathode product)| (Inert Metal if applicable).
Re: how to write a cell diagram [ENDORSED]
For cell diagram, within each half part, electrode and solids are written far away from the salt bridge, followed by liquid, gas and aqueous solution. Within each phase, orders are not strictly defined, but people tend to put in the order of reactant to product.

How come in the textbook pg 575 when the order of the galvanic cell | (Anode reactant) | (anode product) || (Cathode reactant) | (cathode product)| is flipped so that the cathode is on the left the voltage is negative, even when the electrons are still flowing from anode to cathode?

Then how come for problem 14.11 the cathode reactant and the cathode product is switched so that Cl- is before Cl2?

Re: how to write a cell diagram
My TA said that the order is not always followed that way. For the purpose of this class, I don't think the order will be stressed upon.

Have the anode then cathode. The inert metals should be on the outside. besides that dont stress
