How do we know if we need Pt(s) on both sides or only one one side of a cell diagram?

Its based off what they tell you, if they say that each electrode is made of platinum then you would need it on both sides, if not then you would put it on whatever electrode they say uses platinum.

What if the electrode isn't made of Pt but some homework problems put Pt as an inert solid on top of the electrode? How do you know when to include an inert solid?
