When to include Pt in cell diagram

Postby Luke Bricca 1H » Wed Feb 21, 2018 8:38 pm

When is it appropriate to use Pt(s) or another metal like C(s) to border a cell diagram?

When there is no conducting metal available to carry the electrons. In most cases, you will need the pt electrode when there are only ions involved in the redox rxn.

Mostly, Pt is used when there is no conducting metal in the reaction.
