Metal on ends of galvanic cell

Will we need to recognize when to put these metals on the ends/ does it matter which metals we pick? Most often seems like Pt

Usually platinum is used as an inert metal electrode.

You add an intert metal (usually platinum) at the end of there is no solid metal in the equation. The platinum will be the electrode!
