Potential Difference

Postby Joanna Pham - 2D » Wed Feb 20, 2019 7:41 pm

What exactly is potential? Dr. Lavelle mentioned potential and potential difference today in lecture, but I'm unsure what it is exactly.

Potential is basically the cell potential in which how much voltage exists between the cathode and the anode. Thats why when there is "very little current flow" as said in the lecture (meaning before most of the reaction has taken place), the potential is the greatest.

cell potential is basically the force (voltage) that exists between the two parts of the battery
