The cathode is the reduction half of the cell and the anode is the oxidation half of the cell. Cathode= reduction half reaction. Anode= oxidation half reaction.

The cathode is where the reduction half-reaction occurs, while the anode is where the oxidation half-reaction occurs.
In high school, we were taught "Red cat" and "An ox" as an easy way of remembering which reaction occurs in which electrode.

The cathode is the reduced half-reaction as seen in how it gains electrons in the process. The anode is oxidized in its half-reaction as seen in how it loses electrons in the process.

Oxidation occurs at the anode, and reduction occurs at the cathode. The electrons will be flowing from the anode to the cathode, and so the anode will be marked with a negative sign and the cathode will be marked with a positive sign.

The cathode is the reduction half reaction, while the anode is the oxidation half reaction. Basically, whichever chemical species being reduced will be the cathode and whichever chemical species being oxidized will be the anode.

Cathodes will have electrons on its reactants side while anodes will have electrons on its products side when writing out the half reactions.

The anode is where oxidation takes place (electrons leave) and the cathode is where reduction takes place (gains electrons).

An anode has the reaction that is being oxidized while the cathode has the reaction that is being reduced.
