Could you explain the purpose of a galvanic cell and what it is? Thank you!
Galvanic cells harness the electrical energy available from the electron transfer in a redox reaction to perform useful electrical work such as powering radios, watches, ect. The key to gathering the current, or electron flow, is to separate the oxidation and reduction half-reactions by connecting them with a wire in order to have the electrons flow through that wire.
