The Platinum electrode isn't reduced or oxidized, It is simply used as a pathway for the electrons to enter solution (and reduce FE3+, with respect to the example in class.

Platinum is not very reactive, so it is just a means of getting electrons from one source to the next for the actual electron transfer to occur.

The Pt is more of a bridge for the electron that allows it to get from one side to the other so it can reduce.
