Galvanic cell vs battery system

Postby Ami_Pant_4G » Sun Feb 23, 2020 1:42 pm

Is a galvanic cell referring to the same thing as a battery system? thanks in advance.

I think they basically are the same. The textbook states that a battery is a collection of galvanic cells connected in a series

I think a galvanic cell just has a negative Gibbs free energy value.

Typically, a battery consists of multiple Galvanic cells, but yeah they're pretty much the same thing as they both consist of 2 half cells-1 reduction half cell and 1 oxidation half cell.
