Salt Bridge vs. Porous Disk

Postby Sydney Pell 2E » Sun Feb 23, 2020 10:10 pm

What is the difference between a salt bridge and a porous disk?

I think the only important difference for us to know is that when you write cell diagrams you put one 'I' between the anode and cathode for a disk and 'II' when there's a salt bridge between them

They're basically the same thing except a salt bridge connects two beakers connected with a tube filled with gel, allowing the salts to move.A porous disk, however, lets the salts transfer to either side of the disk.
