Writing Cell diagram

Postby Junwei Sun 4I » Tue Feb 25, 2020 1:59 am

If we have two aqueous for the cathode side does it matter how we write the order of those two aqueous substances?

For example if on the cathode Ce4+ is reduced to Ce3+, does it matter if we write Ce4+,Ce3+|Pt(s) or Ce3+,Ce4+|Pt(s) in the cell diagram?

I don’t believe it matters, as long as there is a comma separating the two solutions.

Yeah, I agree ^^. As long as you have all components in the right section of the cell diagram, I don't believe order matters. Just make sure you have the single lines separating the species and a double line representing a salt bridge (or a single line for a porous disk) in the middle of the anode and cathode components.
