The anode is the part of the cell that performs oxidation, so the element/compound inside loses an electron. This electron transfers over to the cathode, which performs reduction and adds the electron to the corresponding element/compound inside.

The electrons move from the anode to the cathode, so the anode contains the oxidation half reaction and the cathode contains the reduction half reaction.

Anode is where the oxidation half reaction of the redox reaction takes place and cathode is where the reduction half reaction takes place. Since the oxidation in the solution of the anode is losing electrons, these electrons travel through the anode which is a solid metal to the cathode another solid metal where the reaction happening in that solution is gaining electrons.

Just to add on: one way you can remember this is with the phrases "an ox" and "red cat". The phrase "an ox" represents the first letters of anode and oxidation (since oxidation occurs in the anode), and "red cat" represents the first letters of reduction and cathode (since reduction occurs in the cathode).

An anode is the electrode where oxidation occurs and the Cathode is the electrode where reduction occurs. In other words the anode is the electrode where electricity flows into. In contrast, the cathode is the electrode where the electricity flows out of.

the electrons flow from the oxidation half reaction in the anode and flow into the reduction half reaction of the cathode (an ox, red cat)

Also, traditionally in a galvanic cell diagram, the anode will be on the left side while the cathode will be on the right side.
