Electromotive force

Postby Jorja De Jesus 2C » Sun Mar 01, 2020 11:11 pm

Does the electromotive force only include electron flow that goes from left to right (in galvanic cells)? Or is it any direction?

Also, what is the significance of electromotive force? I don't remember what Dr. Lavelle said about it in lecture.

Electromotive force is simply the potential difference between two cells. Electron flow can go in any direction, depending on which side has the cathode/anode. But, it is typically calculated cathode-anode (right minus left).
