Cell Diagrams

Postby Zoya Mulji 1K » Sun Mar 08, 2020 10:03 pm

How do you format a cell diagram when the states are the same v. when the elements are in different states?

When the states are the same, you use commas to separate them, whereas when they're different phases, use the vertical line to separate them.

If states are the same, you use a comma to separate the elements. If the elements are in different states use a vertical line.

I believe that when the states are the same, you can use commas in place of single lines; whereas, when the states are different, you use single lines.

Also, when the states are the same, you put the higher charge on the left and lower charge on the right

To add on this wonderful list, Platinum as a solid metal is required on the side that has no metals because the electrode requires a solid metal to conduct the flow of e- / voltage going through it.

If the two molecules are in the same phase, you use a comma. But, if the molecules are in different phases, then it's a vertical line, the same as between the different reacting molecules.
