Moles for Free Energy

Postby HoganFenster2E » Sun Jan 31, 2016 8:00 pm

For the questions that have us find the standard reaction Gibbs free energy and give us a reaction, how do we know how many moles to use? Basically, where do we find the amount of moles to use?

Just for all other state functions, the standard value is given in kJ/mole reaction equivalents for the reaction in lowest whole number coefficients

eg. If the reaction is A + 2B --> 3C + D then the deltaG applies to reacting 1 mole of A with 2 moles of B
