Example 14.6 in Textbook, page 581

can someone please explain example 14.6 in the textbook on page 581, more specifically where the -4 and -3 coefficients come from on the top of page 582 where
-4FE(B) = -3FE(C) + {-FE(D)}

are we supposed to derive these numbers from anywhere or would they be given?

You get them from the number electrons transferred in the respective half reactions. These are the n values from the equation given on page 572 in the textbook.
