Outline 5 Learning Objective

Postby Lilyana Villa 3L » Sat Mar 13, 2021 11:58 pm

On Outline 5, there is a learning objective that states "Predict if a metal will dissolve in a solution." Could someone explain how you would do this?

I'm pretty sure it's talking about when a metal electrode is oxidized to form metal cations, which will dissolve into solution. So I guess you'd just have to look at the half-reactions and see which metal is being oxidized.

I think it's just knowing which/if metal dissolves in a cell.

I think its just talking about identifying the anode

I think it's talking about whether the metal will spontaneously form ions or not.

You would basically have to identify the anode.
