### Concentration Cells

Why in concentration cells does the lower concentrated solution become the anode and the higher concentration the cathode?

To neutralize the ion concentration, you will produce ions on the side with a lower concentration and remove ions on the side with a higher concentration. Since oxidation produces ions, the side with lower concentration will be the anode and the side with high concentration will undergo reduction to reduce the number of ions.
