When we find the half reactions and add the E knot values we get E knot of the cell. E values are usually given by the problem for the purposes of calculating Q (or concentrations) in the formula E= E,knot - (RT/nF)•lnQ . Usually if they do not give you the E value then they give you enough information in context to find it. Hope this helps!
