.05916 In Nernst Equation

Postby Lindsey Lill » Fri Feb 10, 2017 2:55 pm

In our practice midterms, I keep seeing the RT in the Nernst equation written as .05916. Where does this number come from?

Are we supposed to use 0.05912? Is that the value we used in lecture?

That's the constant used when the ln is changed to log.

I think the answer should be the same even if you used the one with 'ln' instead of 'log'. But then instead, it would be 0.02568/n when you plug it into the Nernst equation: {Ecell= Escp - (0.02568/n)*lnQ}

yes, you can use either, and both equations are given.
