K sig figs

Postby Clarisse Wikstrom 1H » Tue Feb 20, 2018 4:54 pm

How do we know how many sig figs to include when solving for K for our final answer? Is K usually just 1 sig fig?
Thanks

I would assume you just use the smallest number of given sig figs from the problem. Still, if you see one consistently, that is probably fine; either way I don't think Professor Lavelle is super strict about that as long as you understand the topic.

I don't know why, but 2-3 is my go-to. Like I'll do 1.2 x 10^5 or 1.23 x 10^5 or whatever. It doesn't seem to be a huge deal on exams, just follow the number of sig figs in the other values you're given. :)

I would go by the smallest one you see in the problem, to be honest.

I believe sig figs should not matter too much this quarter but just use the smallest number given in the problem.
