Why can you include concentration and partial pressure when calculating the Q of a rxn?

As long as the reactants and products are not in the liquid or solid state, their concentrations and/or pressures affect the reaction quotient, Q, and the direction the reaction will proceed in to reach equilibrium.

Both pressure and concentration can be included in the formula for the reaction quotient without issue because Q has no units.

Hey,
If you can recall from last year, Q can be calculated from both partial pressures and the concentrations of aqueous solutions. Because Q doesn't have any units, partial pressures and concentrations can be combined.
