### van't hoff equation

How do you find either K1 or K2 in the equation if it's bracketed within ln?

### Re: van't hoff equation

You can convert the equation ln(k1/k2)=x to e^x=(k1/k2) where x is the numerical value obtained by the right side of the Van't Hoff Equation.

### Re: van't hoff equation

You can convert ln(x/y) to ln(x)-ln(y). To obtain x or y, you simply take e and raise it to -x or -y, respectively.

### Re: van't hoff equation

you can find K. Then since you know either k2 or k1 you can just plug one into the other. K= K2/ K1

### Re: van't hoff equation

Use the base e and raise it to the value on the right hand side of the equation (-delta H/R*(1/T2-1/T1)). Then isolate the variable K2 to determine the value.

For the final exam, will we need to know how to derive the Van't Hoff equation?

### Re: van't hoff equation

Raising both sides of the equation to the exponent of e will cancel the ln. You then solve for one of the K values.
