Q

When using Q in the Nernst Equation, how come we are allowed to mix values for partial pressure and concentration of the products and reactants?

Do you know where you found this info? Because I thought you weren't allowed to mix partial pressure and concentrations you use either/or. So if an equation is made up of completely compounds in their gas phase then you use partial pressure whereas if it is a combination of gas and other phases you use their concentrations. I don't think you are ever supposed to use both of them since partial pressures are not equivalent to concentrations, and are used to find the concentration.

I don't think you should mix partial pressures and concentrations -- Kc is when using concentrations and Kp is when using partial pressures. Hope this helps!

You should usually stick to using either concentration or partial pressures when calculating Q
