How does one find n to plug into the Nernst?

Hi! n is the moles of electrons transferred. Once you find the reduction and oxidation reactions, balance them. The coefficient in front of the electron value should be the same for the reduction and the oxidation reactions, and that is the n value.

I also was first confused with this, but the n here is talking about the moles of electrons transferred! So yes to emphasize, you must balance the redox equations correctly and then use the moles of electrons transferred as the n.

You can find n by balancing both Half reactions so the same number of electrons are transferred in the oxidation and reduction reactions. n is then the number of electrons transferred

We are able to determine n in this equation through the number of electrons that are transferred. This is seen through the half reactions that we do.
