Nernst Equation and pH

Postby Dayna Pham 1I » Fri Mar 15, 2019 2:18 pm

How can we use the Nernst Equation to calculate pH? Does it have to do something with ion-selective electrodes?

You can use Nernst Equation to find Q or K if it is at equilibrium. Then you can solve for [H+] if you are given other concentrations.

Use Nernst to find K, and then solve the equilibrium expression for concentration and then pH.
