What is the purpose of the Nernst Equation?

It relates the reduction potential of an electrochemical reaction to the standard electrode potential, temperature, and concentrations of the chemical species going through reduction and oxidation.

the Nernst equation is Useful when trying to calculate the cell potential (Ecell)

The Nernst equation helps to relate cell potential to the concentrations of the species within it. It therefore also helps relate standard cell potential to the equilibrium constant.
