Uses ln or log in Nernst Equation

Postby Alexandra Keir 3H » Tue Feb 03, 2015 12:00 am

This question is fairly broad but are there situations when using the Nernst equation with the natural log is necessary intead of log base 10? Or is it up to our discretion when each is used?

Given standard conditions, they'll both yield the exact same answer so I think it's up to you which one to use!

I would use natural log because then you don't have to memorize a special number. You can just use the constants and you'll get a more accurate answer.
