Why do some redox reactions produce electric current?

The electric current produced by a redox reaction is due to the flow of electrons between the two electrolytes in the cell. In a redox reaction, one substance is oxidized while another is reduced. Electrons are thus transferred from the oxidized substance to the substance that is going to be reduced. This transfer/flow of electrons is what causes an electric current, as it is a flow of electrical charge from the electrons.
