## Reducing final equation to get n?

### Reducing final equation to get n?

Does anyone know if when balancing the redox reaction for an overall Galvanic/concentration/electrolytic cell, we are supposed to reduce the coefficients? I think my TA said in discussion not to in order to get the correct number of e-s to use in the equation for Ecell, but the solutions manual for 6N.7b seems to suggest that we should reduce the overall rxn equation... because aren't the half reactions used (H2 to H+ and vice versa) with the transfer of 2 e-s?

My TA said the exact same thing as your TA did. I think if you follow what the TA said, you should be fine.

I think in that problem, the question didn't require you to use the n value in further steps so it did not matter if you simplified the final equation
