### Test 2 #6 b

For question 6 part b) How will each of the following changes affect the cell potential:
i) adding 100 mL pure water to cathode solution
ii) halving the mass of anode electrode

I am a bit confused with i) and how the cell potential would decrease when adding 100mL of water into the solution because in the equation it doesn't deal with volume so I would have thought it doesn't change. Could someone explain why it decreases.

If you add water, the volume goes up causing the concentration to go down. Concentration does affect cell potential as shown in the Nernst equation.
