what are the practical applications for ion plating? does it affect the functioning or normal batteries we see in devices?

I do believe that metal plating is used in the normal batteries that are used in our everyday devices for in order for the electron transfer to occur. I think Dr. Lavelle also mentioned an example in lecture of chromium plating for bicycles, so that is another real life use for it!
