Why is SO4 2- not reduced? E°(SO4/H2SO3)>E°(Ni2+/Ni)?

This problem is actually electrolysis, which is different from a Galvanic cell. In electrolysis at a cathode, the more positive potential is preferred, which is why Ni is chosen istead of So4
