The Chromium example

Postby Melissa Per 2J » Sun Feb 25, 2018 11:23 pm

Does anyone remember the chromium example that Dr. Lavelle explained in class the last day we went over electochemistry? I recall being confused and would like to go over it again.

Do you mean the example where he discussed chromium plating? He was discussing how you can use a galvanic cell to plate metals onto other ones-- where a solution of chromium ions are reduced to form solid chromium that is plated onto the solid electrode.

This common type of process is called electroplating, in case you wanted to read more about it!
