Rechargeable Batteries

Postby Bilal Pandit 1J » Mon Feb 24, 2020 4:58 pm

Do we have to know how a rechargeable battery works? Because I think Lavelle said that we did not need to know how it works in class.

I don't think we will need to know how a rechargeable battery works because it is not part of the section outline for electrochemistry.

I don't think it's under the objectives in outline 5 so no.

Just to be safe I would know the example generally because he has mentioned it in lecture but I wouldn't worry about understanding it in depth.

No, we don’t need to know about how rechargeable batteries work, but the textbook does mention it in passing. Basically, when a rechargeable battery is being used, it works like a galvanic cell. When it is being charged, it functions as an electrolytic cell.
