What does kinetically stable mean?
What does kinetically stable mean and how we can tell if the reactants are kinetically stable?

Kinetic stability occurs when reactants react extremely slowly, or not at all. Kinetic stability can be measured by the time it takes for a reaction to occur. The slower a reaction occurs, the greater the kinetic stability. The rate at which the reaction occurs will tell you if the reactants are kinetically stable.

Reactions that occur relatively slow are kinetically stable. It helps me to remember that kinetics involve movement and reactions, and so reactions that are slow and not hectic, aka. stable, are kinetically stable!

I attached a definition that really helped me understand it:
Kinetic stability basically occurs when the reactants react really slowly. The slower the reaction occurs, the greater the kinetic stability.

Kinetically slow reactions mean that the reactants are kinetically stable. Since they are more stable then the products, the reaction proceeds extremely slowly because it wants to stay with the side that has a more stable structure.

Kinetic stability has to do with the speed of the reaction. Slower reactions mean higher kinetic stability.

So reactions are kinetically stable when the reactants are stable, and therefore don't want to change?
