Weeks 9 & 10 Achieve HW Question 7

Postby Ashley Peterson 2C » Sun Mar 17, 2024 11:04 pm

Hello! I was wondering if anyone can let me know where I went wrong with solving this question below..

So I've been able to identify the individual order of all 3 reactants, as well as the overall order for the reaction, rate constant units, and the rate law where k is the rate constant.. I received 0.06 for both the parts asking to calculate the rate constant , k and determining the initial rate of the reaction when
[A]0 = 4.88 mmol/L, [B]0=0.109 mmol/L, and [C[0] = 13.0 mmol/L.

Help would be much appreciated!

so to find k, you’re going to use

rate = k[A][B]^2
and let’s say you wish to use experiment 1

rate: initial rate of experiment 1
[A]: the concentration indicated in experiment 1 for A
[B]: the concentration indicated in experiment 1 for B

step 1: plug in the values
step 2: multiply [A][B]^2 and the value you get, divide it on both sides to isolate k and you will get your value

My apologies, do you think you can elaborate more on that??
