When anazyling initial reaction rates, why do we only focus on the reactant concentration?

because in a reaction initially, all we know are the reactant concentration (since products are forming during the reaction)

There are no products at the beginning of a reaction since none of them have been formed yet.

Because at the start there is no products formed so the only concentration you have is the one of the reactants
