### half life vs rate

I'm not sure I understand how half-life is related to rate of reaction. Can someone please clarify?

The normal rate of the reaction is the concentration of a reactant or product to be consumed or formed over a given time unit.

Half-life of a reaction is the amount of time needed for the reactant concentration to decrease by half its original concentration.

Like they said, a half life is the time it takes for half of the concentration of the specific reaction to deplete by 50%, and the rate is just how fast it depletes throughout the reaction.
