K value related to half life

Postby JennyCKim1J » Thu Mar 01, 2018 11:31 am

Why is large k = fast reaction?

Also, just in general, why do we want to know half-life?

For all half life equations, there is always an inverse relationship between k and time. For this reason, a large k means time is small which means that it is a fast reaction. Hope this helps!

Hey!!! So k is your rate constant. Rate=k(reactant) so when you increase the value of k you're increasing the rate of the reaction.
Hope this helps! :)
