How do I identify a rate determining step?

The rate determining step is just the slowest step of the reaction and is the only one (or ones if there are multiple) that will effect the rate of the reaction and so performing an experiment where you change the concentrations of different reactants and see the impact on the rate can help you determine the rate determining step.
