What is the conceptual idea for rate constant k in the equation? What does the rate constant k do?

Re: Rate constant k
k quantifies the rate at which the chemical reaction occurs and allows us to determine the overall rate using the formula given. We multiply k to the molar concentrations of the reactants to their order number to find Rate.

Re: Rate constant k
rate constant k determines how fast/slow the reaction occurs using the initial concentrations of the reactants

Re: Rate constant k
To add on, the rate constant, k, does have different units depending on what order the reaction is. The general rule is as follows for the units of k: 1/(Mn-1*t-1), where n is the order of the reaction.
