## Units of time

$aR \to bP, Rate = -\frac{1}{a} \frac{d[R]}{dt} = \frac{1}{b}\frac{d[P]}{dt}$

### Units of time

Is rate always expressed with seconds as the measurement of time? Or could a rate law be expressed in M/hr?

Something I have noticed is that in some problems, they will give you a number to be plugged in which may already have a unit of time to it. If this is so, then this dictates what unit of time will be the outcome, or you could convert the number given to match a desired one.

### Re: Units of time

I'd imagine you could use other units of time. Personally, I would stay uniform to the units used in the problem or whatever's specified.

### Re: Units of time

It is possible to use units of time that are not seconds. I think we use second in general as a benchmark.

I think you can use hours, it just depends on what the question is asking for.
