Determining a rate law graphically

Postby kevinolvera1j » Fri Mar 13, 2020 1:28 pm

Is it possible to determine a rate law from a tangent line or a secant line of a graph of time in seconds vs concentrations?

Essentially you can, but there will be an error bound for the value you find. The only point at which the rate will truly be accurate using a tangent or secant line will be at the point that you used for the tangent line (the point where they intersect). It’s easier to just do it the normal way and use the rate law rules for graphs though.
