Axes labels

$aR \to bP, Rate = -\frac{1}{a} \frac{d[R]}{dt} = \frac{1}{b}\frac{d[P]}{dt}$

What are the axes labels of a graph of a second order reaction?

Re: Axes labels

You plot the integrated rate law, so the x axis label is time and the y label is 1/[A].

Re: Axes labels

The axes label for a first order reaction is ln[A] vs time.
For a second order reaction, 1/[A] vs time.

Re: Axes labels

the X-axis would be time and the y-axis would be 1/[A]

Re: Axes labels

The x-axis is time and the y-axis is 1/[A]. By graphing 1/[A] over time this linearizes the function where the concentration of the reactant decreases at a faster rate compared to compared to the first order reactant. The resulting linearized function of graphing 1/[A] over time has a positive slope which is the value of K.
