### Chapter 15 Question 19

Hello
For this question, i dont understand how they obtained the rate order for reactant B from the table. Can someone please explain this? Thanks!!

This exercise is similar to example 15.2 on page 621-622.
So in determining the reaction order in B, try to look at experiment 1 and experiment 3. From the two experiments,
the concentration of B is increased by: $\frac{3.02}{1.25} = 2.416$
the rate (of the overall equation) changed by : $\frac{50.8}{8.7} = 5.839$
This means that $2.416^{x} = 5.889$
Hence, using ln, we obtained:
$x ln (2.416) = ln (5.839)$
$x = \frac{ln(5.839)}{ln(2.416)} = 2.00$
Because of this, the order of reaction for reactant B is 2.
