What does reaction rate depend on?

In the course reader, it says that the reaction depends only on the concentration of the reaction. However, I thought that the reaction rate also depends on the rate constant k and the activation energy?

The reader said that the initial rate only depends on [R] in an initial rate study. When kinetic studies are carried out, great care is exercised to keep all of the other parameters constant. So in that context the only thing that would affect the rate is [R] since other parameters are constant. Going back to what you said, when T, or Ea are varied, the reaction rate does in fact change.
