When finding the overall order of the reaction in part a of 15.19, why do we not need to calculate the order in regards to reactant C?

You do need to find the order for reactant C. Use Experiments 3 and 4 to find the order of reactant C.

You do need to calculate the order for each reactant. To find the overall order of the reaction, you add up the order of each reactant.
In this case, A is first-order, B is second-order, and C is also second-order. So, the overall order is 5.

You do, as the orders of all reactants factor into the overall order of the reaction
